2 Measurements Needed
When measuring your dog for a custom made neck collar we need the following 2 measurements:
1. CIRCUMFERENCE AROUND THE NECK- measure around the widest part of your dog's neck- it determines the length of the collar that we need to manufacture to go around your dogs neck and match the required size you have requested.
2. COLLAR WIDTH - How wide you want the collar - The width of collar will be made to the exact size requested.
If your not sure on the measurement/width of the collar, you can measure the length of your dog's neck:
Start from the butt of your dogs ear ( back of the ear) down the side of the neck to roughly 1.5 - 2 inches before the front of the shoulders.
A good way to find this point before the shoulders is to use a normal yard collar, make sure the yard collar is a loose fit so you can slide the collar down the neck towards the shoulders, the yard collar will not be able to go any further as your dogs neck spreads out into the chest and shoulders, measure to the inside of the collar, this will give you the measurement you roughly need.
What you also need to remember is that you don't want to make the collar to wide as your dog will not be able to turn their head properly and restrict their movement.
